New ideas for painting.

My almost 4 year old tends to get bored with painting quite quickly these days.

He will happily sit down for hours and read books with me, in fact I think he would do it all day if I had time! Painting and drawing however usually only last about 10 minutes, which is a bit sad because I quite like sitting down and painting and drawing with him. Not that I am any good at it but I find it quite soothing and peaceful!

So anyway I've been trying to think of and find new and different craft ideas that he might find a little bit more interesting and fun and keep him interested for a little bit longer. Last week we tried ball splat painting, because boys love throwing balls and well, it's messy!

I chose 3 different balls with different textures.

And I tried to contain some of the mess in a cardboard box.

The idea was to drop the balls from a height into the box for some cool effects, but Alex decided he just liked holding them and splogging them on. Either way we ended up with some good looking paintings and got about 20 minutes play out of it!

I might try this with Miss One as well soon as she enjoys painting and throwing balls too - I have a feel it will be a whole lot messier with her though! This is her last painting effort!

I think she looks awfully cute covered in paint and we had fun cleaning up in an outdoor bath too.

I got the idea for this activity from this blog
